Eugene’s Obituary Eugene W. Daily, aged 98, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, Illinois, died after a brief illness on May 21, 2019. He was born September 29, 1920 in DuQuoin, Illinois to Harry and Naomi Daily. He grew up in DuQuoin and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Education in 1942.

He went on to attend Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated with a PhD in Theology in 1947. He married Betty Jane Johnson in 1942. He served in the pastorate of three churches in East St. Louis and Belleville, Illinois, State Street Baptist Church, Lansdown Baptist Church and Westview Baptist Church from 1947 to 1970.

Dr. Daily retired from the pastorate in 1970 and taught English and The Bible as Literature at East St. Louis Senior High School for 16 years. He moved from Belleville to Windsor Park in 2008. He was a people person who was actively involved in organizations to help others.

Although he lived modestly, God provided him with the opportunity to generously support many Christian organizations. He was a volunteer at Central DuPage Hospital for seven years. Eugene and Betty were intrepid travelers, visiting Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

They did an “around-the world” trip in 1970. He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark (Karen) Daily, three grandsons and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Cecil Daily of DuQuoin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and four siblings. A memorial service will be held at Windsor Park on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 2:00 PM. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Spectrios Institute for Visual Rehabilitation in Wheaton.
