Evelyn Maxine Gross age 76 of Swords Creek, Virginia departed this life on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at an assisted living home in Tazewell, Virginia following an extended illness. She was born in Russell County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ruie Gross and Nannie Mae Sharp Gross. She had worked many years at the General Instrument Company in Tazewell.

After retiring, she spent time with her family and enjoying life in general. Evelyn had lived most of her life on the Horton Ridge section of Swords Creek. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle Carr and Olaf Gross; brother, Edward Gross.

Those who survive her are her: Daughter, Nannie Carlene Jackson and husband, Randall of Talbott, TN Son, Glenward Eugene Gross of Pikeville, KY Sister, Mrs. Voila Lester of Swords Creek, VA Brothers: Carl Hassell Gross and wife, Connie of Lothian, MD Carter Dennis Gross and wife, Connie of Annapolis, MD Grandchildren, Tiffany Farley, Glenward E. Gross, Jr., Aaron Gross, Jamie Gross, Sierra Gross, Alacea Gross. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive. The funeral service for Evelyn M. Gross will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev.

Mike Roberts and Rev. Jonathan Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lester, Hassell Lester, Ronnie Lester, Randall Jackson, Brian Gross and Mike Lester. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home.
