OBITUARY Evelyn Shillinglaw Reavis April 13, 1930 – July 13, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Evelyn Shillinglaw Reavis of Salisbury, NC, stepped into the loving arms of Jesus and saw the face of God on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Genesis Healthcare. She was born April 13, 1930, in Rowan County, to the late Marion “Doc” Shillinglaw and Bessie Spears Shillinglaw of China Grove. She graduated in 1948 from China Grove High School and later in life attended Salisbury Business College.
Her career included working at the former China Grove Hardware, Rowan Printing Company, and Rowan Business Forms from where she retired after 45 years of service, at the age of 80. She was a faithful member of Charity League of Salisbury for over 30 years, serving the noon meal to Rotary Club members, especially “her” Table 5. She was also Treasurer of the League for many years.
Evelyn had also earned the Star Recorder degree while a member of the former Salisbury Women of the Moose. She was a member of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church, Salisbury, NC. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband David (D.W. 6/30/1997), beloved daughter Karen Reavis Littleton (9/12/2013), sons-in-law who she loved like sons Tom Barnhardt (2/21/2015) & Jeff Littleton (6/21/16), grandson Brandon Littleton (6/6/2015), great grandson, Gavin Littleton (6/25/17), brothers infant Marshall, Otho (Mary) Shillinglaw and Earl (Marie) Shillinglaw; sisters Dorothy (Luther) Goodman, Mabel S. Hoosier Funderburk, Lois (Lynn) Smith, and Rachel (Cecil Boyd) Miller.
She is survived by her daughter Vickie R. Barnhardt. Grandson Eric Todd (Jennifer) Littleton and children “Brie”, Laney, and Lexie. Grandson Jordan Kirk Littleton (Whitney Cook) and children Kain and Averie.
She is also survived by Brandon’s sons, Xander and Beckett (his Mother Rebecca Loveland). She has one great-great grandson, Wyatt Mauldin and a step-grandson Brandon (Amber) Boettcher, Carlee, DJ, and Addie. Also surviving is her sister Mary Geneva Reavis, Rockwell, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Thursday, July 19, 5-7 p.m., at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, NC The family will be at her residence from 1:00p – 7:00 p, Monday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Service: Will be conducted by Don Vess, Pastor, Destiny City Church, at 7 p.m. on July 19 at Linn-Honeycutt Chapel, China Grove, NC Memorials: Memorials may be made to Rowan Hospice, 720 Grove St, Salisbury, NC 28144 Burial will at the Historic National Cemetery, Government Rd, Salisbury, NC, on Monday, July 23, at ___11 am______. “Skip on the streets of Gold and dance from Cloud to Cloud.
