OBITUARY Evelyn T Thomason November 16, 1920 – September 2, 2018 Evelyn “Jim” Thomas Thomason, 97 year old, of White, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2018 at her home. Evelyn was born on November 16, 1920, in Powder Springs, Ga. to the late William Chester and Annie Mae (Ellis) Thomas.

She grew up in NW Atlanta and graduated from Fulton High School in 1938. At the age of 9, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. Evelyn was active in church all her life and was a faithful member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church in Cartersville.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Linda Thomason Clark (Ken) of White and Nancy Thomason Futrelle (Philip) of Marietta; grandchildren, James Futrelle (Katy), Lisa Ricketts, Susan Gregory (Chris), Bill Clark (Susan), Sheree Keeling; great grandchildren, Christopher Cail (Melanie), Taylor Addison (Jason), Stephen Clark (Meredith), Deidra Ricketts, Katherine Clark, Michael Clark and Sarah Clark; great-great grandchild, Tara Cail; her sister, Norma Draper as well as other family members; good friend, David Dewrell and special caretakers, Charlotte Lewis and Helen Barnette. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Thomas. Evelyn worked at the U.S. General Accounting Office for 35 years, several of which were spent overseas.

She spent four years in Germany and two years in Thailand. After retiring from GAO, she went to work for Lewis Slaton, D.A. of Fulton County for another 10 ½ years as his Executive Secretary. Throughout her lifetime she traveled to over 70 countries on 6 Continents.

Her favorites were African safaris in Kenya and Uganda. Many articles that she wrote about her travels were published by her local newspaper as well as enjoyed by her family and friends. She will especially be remembered for her love to travel, gardening, sewing and enjoyment of life.

Celebration of Life service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Rowland Springs Baptist Church, 79 Rowland Springs Rd. SE, Cartersville, Ga. 30121, with the Reverend Joe Ringwalt officiating.

Interment will follow at Melrose Cemetery, 9446 Villa Rica Highway (Highway 61), Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers include James Futrelle, Bill Clark, Christopher Cail, Michael Clark, David Dewrell and Jason Toache.
