Fairy “Jackie” Gilliland Martin, 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Asbury House Hospice. Jackie was born on October 8, 1928 in Belzoni, MS to James “Jim” Gilliland and Annie Bell Switzer Gilliland and was one of eight children. Jackie attended Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, GA.

She is preceded in death by husband, Dr. Lawrence “Larry” Martin; her parents, Jim and Annie Bell Gilliland; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Gilliland, Sue Gilliland Shelby; a brother, Oscar “Sonny” Gilliland. She is survived by a son, Chuck Martin of Hattiesburg, MS; a daughter, Lisa M. Young of Hattiesburg, MS; two sisters, Betty Gilliland of Brookhaven, MS, Addie Gilliland Rutherford, Cleburne, TX; two brothers, James Gilliland of Trinity, AL, Robert (Betty) Gilliland of Anguilla, MS; one sister-in-law, Jeannine Gilliland of Como, MS,; four grandchildren Jessica and Joey Martin and Ronald and Tyler Young; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Jackie will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Hattiesburg Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.

Interment will be on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Yonah Memorial Gardens in Clarkesville, GA. The family wishes to express a special thank you to everyone at Asbury Hospice for making her final days an easy transition for her and her family. They request that memorials may be directed to Christian Services of Hattiesburg, MS, Sharing and Caring of Cornelia, GA, or Asbury Hospice House of Hattiesburg, MS.
