Mrs. Carolyn “Faye” Daffin Hotvedt, 71, beloved wife of the late Karl Stephen “Steve” Hotvedt and a resident of Onley, VA, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at her family home, in Onley. Born October 2, 1947 in Nassawadox, VA, she was a daughter of the late Philip Milton “Karo” Daffin and Elsie Outten Daffin. Raised in a family whose priority was to always show their unconditional love and support and to spend quality time together, Faye knew how important it was to cherish every moment with loved ones.

With a heart of gold and hugs that always made everyone feel at ease, Faye’s love was one of a kind. For decades, she was one of the many smiling faces to welcome generations of children at her sister’s day care, where she spent most of her spare time. She was married to the love of her life, and together, they shared 46 years of marriage, raised a wonderful daughter, and made countless memories.

Faye adored her family, cherished her days spoiling the children at her sister’s day care, and was absolutely captivated with anything relating to Luke Bryan. Her presence will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched, especially the little ones, both past and present, all of whom were lucky to have known the kind of love that only “Ms. Faye” could give. Faye is survived by her daughter, Stephanie H. Bradshaw (David) of Exmore, VA; sister, Cindy Daffin Mears; brother, Bryan Daffin and (Candie), all of Onley; nephews, Billy Mears (Angela), and Alex Farlow (Amanda) and their children, Kenzie, Cayden, and Kaytlynn; niece, Alyssa DeYoung (Scott) and their daughter, Vanette; aunt, Shirley Gregory; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 3:00 p.m., with The Reverend Charles W. Parks III officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Cindy Mears, (25858 Rogers Street, in Onley) at any time prior to, or following, the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Tasley Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 68, Tasley, VA 23441, or to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P.O. Box 430, Onancock, VA 23417.
