Flora Ann Wessel, 86, of Charlestown, IN. passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, IN with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Wessel was born on October 31, 1932 in Sellersburg, IN the daughter of Charles and Flora Renn Schafer.

Flora was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Charlestown and the Charlestown Seniors. She retired from the Clark County Recorders Office and was most proud of being a Farmer’s wife. Flora was an avid IU and Pacer basketball fan seldom missing a game.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane Cognata Weitlauf (Bill) of Louisville KY, Malia Edmonds (Mike) of Charlestown and Paula Wessel (Duffy) of Louisville; son, Timothy Wessel of Louisville; brothers, Charles Schafer, Jr. of Clarksville and James Schafer of Sellersburg; sister, Norma Krentz of Carmel IN; beloved companion, Clarence Shaftlein; grandchildren, Chris Rider (Heela), Stacy Jackson (Chris) and Kelly Cantwell (Erica); great-grandchildren, Brody Jackson, Bryce Jackson, Payton Fancher, Sadie Jackson and Annabelle Douglas. Flora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard Wessel; daughter Rosemary Wessel Cantwell; granddaughters, Jennifer Rider and Sheena Edmonds Fancher and sister, Mary Anderson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. Michaels Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with burial in St. Michaels Cemetery.

Visitation Will be held on Sunday from 12 noon until 7:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. The Rosary will be prayed at 5 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
