A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Flora P. Swoope Smith 76 formerly of North Courtland will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga with Taylor Funeral Home directing -417 Wilcox Boulevard Chattanooga, TN 37411 Phone: (423) 622-8152 Committal and interment will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Courtland Cemetery. Public viewing will be Saturday from noon till 1 at Reynolds Funeral Home in Decatur, AL. Flora passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her residence.

She was a member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church. She was an educator for 20 years at Piney Woods Elementary and 20 years at East Side Elementary. Flora also worked 26 years as a security guard for Murray Guard, Inc. Survivors include her daughter, Rosalind Smith-Pouncy of Woodstock, GA; brothers, Joseph Gilchrist of Decatur, AL, Clarence (Helen) Gilchrist of Nashville, TN Natus Gilchrist of Athens, AL, and Freddie (Syrvillia) Gilchrist of Hillsboro, AL; sisters, Lillie B. Jones of Chattanooga, Rhodell Hill and Ella Hunter both of Racine, WI, and Gloria (Kenneth) Davis of Decatur; nieces; nephews; cousins; a host of other relatives and friends.
