Floyd’s Obituary Floyd Young Jr., age 83, a resident of West Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, peacefully at home. He was born October 17, 1935 in Oklahoma. He grew up in Bakersfield, California where he graduated high school.

He then joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Following his service he lived in Texas and then moved to the Chicago area in the 50’s. Floyd worked at Alcoa Aluminum and then as a self-employed truck driver.

He loved basketball and working on cars. He became a member of First Baptist Church of Melrose Park in 1964. He is survived by his wife, Susie Young, his children, Carrie Hall, Mamie Yates, Sandra Yates, Shelia (William) Hrobowski, Lloyd Young, and Kevin Young, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Easter Faye Goodwin, one brother, Fugusta (Minnie) Neal, sister-in-law, Sharon Young and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, Floyd and Nellie Young, one son, Lawrence Yates, and his brothers, Carl Young, Clevelan Neal, and one sister, Anabelle. A visitation will be held Friday, March 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wheaton Christian Center, 610 E. North Ave. , Carol Stream, Illinois.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 22, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Wheaton Christian Center. Interment be held Monday, March 25, 2019, at 12:00 Noon at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Family and friends may sign a guest book at hultgrenfh.com.
