Forest “Frosty” Averd Wilcox, 90 of Wautoma, passed away Dec 16, at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah, WI surrounded by his beloved family. Forest was born Apr 13, 1928, in Wautoma to the late Willard Lynn and Rosa Irene (Schumacher) Wilcox. Forest was born, and lived on the family homesteaded farm his entire life.

Forest was involved in his community by serving as Board Member and President of Maple Grove Cemetery Association, Town Supervisor and Town Chairman for the Town of Dakota and as a member of the Waushara County Board for a total of 59 years. A dairy farmer for most of his life, he found time to not only enjoy his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. When Forest retired from the dairy side of farming, he took up whittling and over the years has amassed a huge collection of carvings and has given hundreds of carvings away.

Forest had also served on the Farm Bureau board, and was an active member of his church and choir. Forest loved nature, often finding him out in his woods or in his marsh (picking cranberries), taking pictures, or just sitting in a comfortable spot whittling on a piece of wood with his father’s pocket knife. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth (Smith) Wilcox; two sons: Paul (Janis) Wilcox, Lynn (Sun Yong) Wilcox; three daughters: Jeanone Wilcox, Holly (Mark) Dahlke, Noel Wilcox; grandchildren: Andrea, Jennifer, Heidi, Curtis, Melissa, Carrie, Daniel, and Brenda; 15 great grandchildren; one brother: Marlyn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Forest was preceded in death by his parents and three older brothers; Clifford, Arnold, and Gerald, and one Great Grandson; Oliver Forest Wilcox. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, Wautoma with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma from 5PM – 7PM and again at church on Friday from 10Am until the time of services at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Forest’s name.
