Foy McMaster, Jr. of Irving, Texas June 10, 1926 – February 17, 2019 Jessie Foy McMaster, Jr., age 92, a resident of Irving for almost 64 years, a pioneer in residential air conditioning, died Sunday, February 17, 2019, at a Carrollton hospital. Born June 10, 1926 in Abernathy, Texas, he was the son of the late Jessie Foy McMaster, Sr. and Lona Mae O’Neal McMaster. An Eagle scout, he later served in the U S Navy during World War II.
A graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in sales engineering, he married Mary Ellis Stevens August 30, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK. They moved to Irving in 1955. He was Vice President of Sales and Engineering for the Carrier-Bock Company.
He was instrumental in setting up a system of dealerships that established the availability of residential refrigerated air conditioning. The Plymouth Park addition of the City of Irving was one of the first in the nation to have this service available under Foy’s leadership. He was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Irving for many years and Fellowship Church in Grapevine for the last several years.
He had served as a deacon and was chairman of many church committees, was a former Sunday School Teacher, and volunteered at the Baptist Benevolences, now BBOMI. He was also a past member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriner’s, and the Rotary Club. He enjoyed world-wide travelling.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gene McMaster; a sister, Rhetta Mae Parham; and his son, Jessie Foy McMaster, III June 2, 2009, he is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary E. McMaster of Irving; sons, Michael Steven McMaster and wife Ruth of Highland Village, TX and Robert Randall McMaster and wife Joyce of Marietta, Georgia; a daughter, Susan McMaster Niebuhr and husband Mike of Rowlett, TX; a daughter-in-law, Corine McMaster of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Aaron McMaster and wife Donna, Matthew McMaster and wife Beckie, Jeffrey McMaster and wife Kimberly, Menay Sullivan and husband Justin, Daniel McMaster and wife Kirsten, Jay McMaster, John Niebuhr and wife Nicole, and Emily Niebuhr; sixteen great grandchildren, Derek de Riso and spouse Nick, Jacob McMaster, Clayton Buck, Casey Buck, Noah McMaster, Chandler McMaster, Emma McMaster, Lillie McMaster, Poppy McMaster, Mikayla Little, Erin Sullivan, Colin Sullivan, Logan Sullivan, Zen McMaster, Rhoan McMaster, and Locke McMaster; one great grandson is expected soon; one great-great granddaughter, Genevieve de Riso; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. Burial with Navy honors will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 403 Main Street in Irving. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fellowship Church, Grapevine, First Baptist Church, Irving or to the donor’s favorite charity.
