Frances Lavina Noll (Hunsinger) 90, of Dewart passed away peacefully on, March 7th, 2019, surrounded by family at the Williamsport Home. She was a member of the South Williamsport United Methodist Church. She was born January 2nd, 1929, the daughter of the late Jacob and Emmaline Hunsinger.
Frances was a 1946 graduate of South Williamsport High School and a graduate of the Cambridge School of Broadcasting, Boston Massachusetts where she majored in Public Relations and Communications. She was happily married to John S. Noll and she served as a military spouse for 22 years while “Jack” served in the United States Coast Guard. During their military career Fran and her 4 children had to evacuate Guantanamo Bay Cuba when Fidel Castro turned off all fresh water to the Naval Base.
This emergency evacuation was executed in the dead of night and Fran never blinked an eye. She was a rock to the entire family and was often alone to raise the 4 children while Jack was deployed on sea duty. During her professional career she was the Executive Secretary to the President of Conversions and Surveys in New York City, NY.
In 1962 while her husband John S. Noll was stationed at US Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba she was the Executive Secretary to the Naval Stations Comptroller. She was also the Executive Secretary to the General Manager of Weldon’s manufacturing in 1969 and in 1972 became the Fiction Editor for the Grit Publishing Company. She also worked for a period of time as an Energy Assistance Worker with the Department of Public Welfare and ended her professional career as an Income Maintenance Caseworker with the Department of Public Welfare.
She served on the Executive Board of the Williamsport Area Management Club for 12 years and served as the Board President in 1978 – 1979. She was selected as the Williamsport Management Club’s Member of the Year in 1979 and was the YMCA Adult Volunteer of the year in 1980. She was the first female President in the history of the Williamsport Area Management Club.
Fran was passionate about family and adored all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fun loving and was the “life of the party” at gatherings. She loved the water, boating and fishing and spent several winters after retirement in Okeechobee Florida, but was always in a hurry to get back to her roots in Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Noll and their eldest son, John C. Noll. Surviving are her children, Robert J. Noll (Toni), of Waterville, Charles J. Noll (Lori), of Plunketts Creek Township and Frances R. McMahon (Mick) of Waynesville, Ohio; grandchildren, Tuesday N. Joy (Tony), Jonathan L. Noll (Katie), Zakary McMahon (Ashley), Ryan McMahon, Jacob McMahon, Alyssa Noll; great grandchildren, Logan Joy, Penelope Joy, Patience Joy, Scarlett Joy, Cooper Noll, Colby Noll, Adelyn Noll, Miah McMahon and Gemma McMahon. Fran was the youngest of five girls and was preceded in death by all of her siblings.
A funeral service to honor the life Frances will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 11 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service Monday at Sanders.
