Francis’ Obituary A resident of Independence passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Richard Murphy Hospice House in Hammond. He was born August 29, 1940 in Amite and was 78 years of age. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Independence.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Yvonne Ballard, Independence; 5 daughters, Marie Smallwood, Tuscumbia, AL, Barbara Navalance, Madisonville, LA, Becky Stearley, New Castle, IN, Rose Spell, Bush, LA, Bambi Carpenter, Franklinton; son, Edward M. Ballard and wife, Melissa, Amite, LA; 3 step-daughters, Paula Mondebello, Peggy Russo and husband, Chris, and Leanne Malone and husband, Tommy; step-son, Phil Mondebello, Jr. And wife, DeAnne; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 2 sisters, Sally Ann Ballard Verdel and husband, Winfrey, Bogalusa, LA, and Clara Bo Ballard, Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Evelyn Rutland Ballard, Amite. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Effie Golmon Ballard; brothers and sisters, Jack Vernon Ballard and wife, Colleen Finch, Robert Edwin Ballard and wife, Jo Etta Holden, Joyce Florence Ballard and husband, R C Graham, Beverly Iris Ballard and husband, Kenneth Overstreet, Gaston Eugene Ballard, John Ray Ballard and wife, Rachel Ballard.

Visitation at First Baptist Church of Independence from 11 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019. Services conducted by Rev. Mitch Williams.
