OBITUARY Francis Richard February 28, 1933 – December 21, 2018 Francis D. Richard MILFORD—Francis D. Richard, 85, died December 21, 2018 at Maine Veterans Home Bangor. He was born February 28, 1933 in Old Town a son of Daniel and Thelma (Pelkey) Richard. Francis was definitely a people person, he loved to talk to everybody or anybody about anything which served him well in his job.
Francis never really retired he continued to work until his health no longer allowed him to. He was always there for his family when needed, loved cribbage at the Elks, and loved to go to the Kof C dances with his wife Shirley. You always knew Francis was nearby because you’d hear him whistling or singing at the top of his lungs, He took great pride in his home and could often be found washing and waxing his vehicles or sitting in his garage during the summer with Shirley.
Above all else he loved his family gatherings. Francis had many friends who he cherished. He loved to tell stories of his life while doing his job.
He will be missed by many, But forgotten by none. Francie worked in his Dad’s store on French Island for 20 years, worked for 25 years at A&P Supermarket, and owned and operated LeBreeze Delivery Service along with Richards Place with his son Tim. He served on many local and state committees Penobscot County Board of Commissioners and was active in many civic organizations including Grand Knight Old Town Knights of Columbus, State Convention coordinator KofC, Elks member, and served as selectman, Town of Milford, and Chairman, Right to Life.
He is survived by daughter Brenda Stetson and her husband Gary Stetson, son Timothy Richard and wife Diane; grandchildren Kristy Morin Significant other Corey Tougas; Shane Richard, Morgan Picard and husband Dana, Elizabeth and Thomas Falvey, Cara Fraser and Benjamin Gery, Gary and Tanya Stetson, Joseph and Charity Stetson, Mathew Stetson, Adam and Ashley Stetson. Great grandchildren- Isabelle Picard, Evan Richard, Gabriel Picard, Evan Stetson, Azalea Stetson, Joseph Stetson Very special friend, Betty Severance Sister in law Charlene Vandez Close cousins Thomas and Marie Richards and Franklin and Cathy Richards. He was predeceased by father Daniel Richard, mother- Thelma Richard, wife Shirley Richard, and grandson Corey Morin.
Friends may call 5-7 PM Thursday December 27, 2018 at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St. Old Town, where members of the knights of Columbus will recite prayers at 6:30PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at Parish of the resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
Spring burial, with military honors, will be conducted at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.
