Francisco Leon Del Pilar, age 57, of Columbus Junction, died Saturday morning, September 15, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. The son of Anselmo and Natalia Del Pilar Leon, he was born on October 4, 1960 in Los Saures, Mexico. He came to the United States in 2000 and was employed at Tyson Foods in Columbus Junction.

He liked to sing and play the guitar. At the age of 7, he learned on a manual typewriter so he could write his songs. He also enjoyed cooking and was a good friend to many.

His family includes his mother, Natalia Leon, of Valley Center, California; and his brother, Fernando Leon Pilar of Valley Center, California; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father. The family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction with Father Troy Richmond officiating. There will not be a burial and cremation will be fulfilled after the funeral.
