Frank A LoVuolo joined his beloved wife Grace in heaven on December 17, 2018. Born on May 1, 1924, he was the son of Denny and Rose (Liciandrello) LoVuolo and brother to Edward and Denny LoVuolo, all of whom predeceased him. He graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1942 and attended St. Bonaventure University where he earned a football scholarship.

However, his studies were interrupted by WW II. Frank proudly served with the 107th Field Artillery Battalion of the 28th Infantry (Keystone) Division and saw action in Normandy, the Battle of Huertgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge. He marched under the Champs Elysee during the liberation of Paris and, eventually, returned to continue his studies and graduate from St. Bonaventure University in 1948 with a Master’s Degree in Education.

In 1949, he was selected in the NFL Draft by the NY Giants and in the All-America Football Conference Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He chose to play for the Giants. In 1950, he married his college sweetheart, Grace Paolillo, and the two became public school teachers.

Frank was a teacher or administrator in the Binghamton school system for 30 years. During that time, he also coached football and golf at Binghamton Central High School, basketball at St. Patrick’s Academy, and football at Catholic Central High School. It had been his dream to instruct, guide and, hopefully, inspire his students and players.

He was fortunate to build bonds and relationships that lasted a lifetime. He will be loved and missed by his children Frank and Marthanne LoVuolo, Mark and Patty LoVuolo, and Cynthia and Jim Cardillo; his grandchildren Nick LoVuolo, Jason Cardillo, Adrienne LoVuolo, Matt and Becca Cardillo, Melissa Cardillo, Cathryn Cardillo, and Heather Cardillo; and his great-grandson Chase Cardillo. Frank’s family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Home.

Their care of and consideration for Frank meant a lot to his family. A Funeral Mass will be held on January 5, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Church in Binghamton, NY at 9:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National WW II Museum through their website nationalww2museum.org.

As the site states, “Help us tell their stories”. Frank, having lived it and being ever the history teacher, would never want the sacrifice of so many to be forgotten.
