Frank D Bolles Jr , October 11, 1946 — June 13, 2018

Frank Bolles, 71, passed away June 13, 2018 at North Valley Hospital, Whitefish Montana. Frank struggled valiantly for many years before succumbing to the long-term effects of asbestosis. Frank was born in Eureka, Montana on October 11, 1946 to Frank and Charlotte Bolles.

He attended Lincoln County High School after which he joined the Montana National Guard. His active service was as a Medical Corpsman and Airborne Paratrooper. He was decorated as a Marksman with both rifles and pistols.

In civilian life, he won various local and Montana State awards as a Marksman. Frank worked as a heavy equipment operator for St. Regis Lumber Company both in Libby, MT and Rexford, MT; for the US Forestry Service in both Lincoln County and Flathead County; and for the Montana State Forestry Service at Olney MT. Frank loved his Labradors (most recently his dog “Captain”), his many cats and his race horse Brownie.

He and Brownie were avid Omoksee participants for many years before Brownie’s demise. Frank was a keen observer of nature and nature’s creatures. He knew, for example, the exact dates when resident birds migrated and returned to the Kootenai Valley.

He loved riding his 4-wheeler into the forest with Captain. He loved spending time with his buddies recounting the many stories of old and new Rexford—sometimes embellished here and there. Frank also loved teasing and evoking surprise and laughter from friends and strangers alike, with his antics and stories.

In his later years, Frank found both comfort and solace in his strong and loving ties to his spiritual community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte (Scouten) Bolles and Frank Bolles. He is survived by his sisters Karen Marvel, Clinton, MT and Sandra Bolles, Clinton, MT; his nephew Brendan McQuillan, Polson, MT; and his great niece, Molly McQuillan, Missoula, MT.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Frank on July 1, 2018, at 2pm at Beyond the Cross Assembly, 1813 US Highway 93 North. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Eureka. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.
