Ryan of Tacoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in San Francisco, CA, to Glenn F. and Janet A. (Malin) Ryan. Both of his parents and an older brother, Glenn A. Ryan, preceded him in death.
Frank is survived by his wife of 43 years Marjorie, brother Douglas S. Ryan, sister Janet A. Magdanz, two daughters, Erin Otteman & Kelly (Scott) Evans, & three step-children, Diana (Mike) Zook, James Coyle II, & Sandra (Kevin) Jones. Grandchildren include Brandy, Stephanie & Chris Otteman, Melinda (Travis) Sanchez & Andrew Evans, Bryan (Michelle) Collins, Jaime (Don) Broadfoot, Lindsay (Billy) Wilson, Torsten Hemlin & Jack Coyle, Dallas, Kyle & Faith Jones. Great grandchildren include Zoe, Sennett, Gianna, Ashley, Savanna, Levi, Ronin and others, including nieces, nephews & cousins.
Frank loved them all and prayed for them daily. Frank lived in many places and had a great variety of jobs over the years. As a child he lived in Hood River and Boring, OR, Gorst and Bremerton, WA, graduating from East High School in 1961.
As an adult he resided in Seattle, Bremerton, Port Orchard, Manchester, Clarkston, Winlock, Napavine, Yakima, & Tacoma, WA, and in Forest Grove, Dallas, Albany, Sherwood, and Portland, OR, and Lewiston, ID. Frank grew up working in his family’s business, Acme Florist and Landscape in Bremerton. He had many other occupations over the years.
He worked for various newspapers including The Bremerton Sun, Port Orchard Independent, Northwest Senior News, Lewis Co. News, and owned his own paper, Generations Senior News, in Lewiston, ID. Frank had his own advertising and public relations agency, Talisman Image Development. He sold cars, furniture, manufactured homes, advertising, worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers, and co-managed apartments with his wife.
He was currently working for Catholic Printery part time from home. In his spare time, Frank wrote songs, stories and poetry, and read his Bible. In 2018 he accomplished the goal of reading the Bible through in a year.
Frank never met a stranger. He loved Jesus and prayed with and for many people he met. He gave out Bibles and devotional booklets.
He loved his wife, Marge, “in spite of everything”. . The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Tacoma General Hospital ER and ICU for their compassionate care and concern and to all our friends and relatives for their prayers and support.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, January 26, 2019, at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 S. Orchard St., Tacoma, WA 98466 In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice, or to Praise Covenant Church for a Bible Fund to continue the work Frank started.
