Obituary for Fred Klostermann Jr. Fred Klostermann, Jr. 88 went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 9, 2018 at Valley Baptist Medical Center, after a short illness, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 7, 1929 to Fritz and Selma (Horstmann) Klostermann in Robstown, Texas. Fred graduated from Lyford High School and attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, where he was a member of the Javelina football team.

After leaving college, Fred returned to the Willacy County area where he was engaged in farming until 1992. Fred married Alida Spilman on February 3, 1950 and they were married 68 years. After retiring he and Alida enjoyed traveling with friends in their travel trailers around the state.

He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Raymondville where he served on many boards and was a faithful member until his death.

Fred also served on boards, including Valley Telephone, Willacy County ASCS, was President of the Raymondville ISD School Board for numerous years and President of the Lyford Gin Association. He was an avid sports fan attending Raymondville Football games, but more recently he attended sporting events in Lyford to watch his great-grandsons participate. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carrie; brother Elroy Klostermann and a sister, Myrtle Klostermann.

Fred is survived by his wife Alida, three sons, Russell (Ruth), Jack (Beth) and Dan (Norma) Klostermann; daughter, Margaret (Mike) Hanus. He is also survived by seven grandsons; 2 granddaughters and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at Mt. Calvary Lutheran church in Raymondville on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steve Morfitt and Pastor Walt Pohland officiating. Interment will follow in the Raymondville Memorial Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Klostermann, Matt Klostermann, Jared Klostermann, Cael Hanus, Jory Hanus, John Klostermann, Boomer Klostermann and Matt Peeples. Honorary pallbearers will be Alden Johnson, Buck Busse, Elwood Kenetig and Milton Lorenz, Sr. The family would like to thank Louisa Moreno, Pamela and Juan Garcia and Sylvia Galvan for their service in caring for Fred. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.

Calvary Lutheran Church, 181 E. Wood Ave. , Raymondville, Texas 78580 or to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave.
