Obituary for Fred L. Steinke Fred L. Steinke, 70, went to be home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 5, 2018 after a brief illness. Fred was born and raised in Ann Arbor and a graduate of Ann Arbor High School. He served his country in the Navy at Lamore Naval Air Station in California and spent 37 years working for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti as a tool and die maker.

In retirement, he and his wife of 48 years, Joetta (Vreeland), moved to Wetmore, MI in the upper peninsula where they enjoyed living in the woods, feeding the deer, and watching the sun rise over the lake. There he made many friends and spent his days four-wheeling, snow-blowing, serving as a deacon and board member at the Munising Baptist Church, and just being a good-natured guy who loved God and his family. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son-in-law; Jen (Ben) Weatherston and Deb Steinke, as well as two grandsons whom he loved very much, Everett and Freddie Weatherston.

Family and Friends are welcome to celebrate his life at visitation: Tuesday, May 8, 5-8pm at Nie Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd, Ann Arbor, 48103 and at his funeral service Wednesday, May 9, 11am at Milan Baptist Church, 31 Ferman St, Milan, MI 48160. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 14, 11am at Munising Baptist Church, N6285 Connors Rd, Wetmore, MI 49895. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Munising Baptist Church building fund.
