Obituary for Marylou Novalis Marylou Stanton Novalis, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 29th, 2018, in Ann Arbor Michigan at the age of 78. Marylou was born on February 26th, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey, to John and Grace Novalis. She was the oldest of four siblings.

Marylou is survived by daughter Kristin Pearce, granddaughters Erin (Anthony) Mauricio and Victoria Pearce, great grandsons Anthony and Henry Mauricio, sister Susann (Bruce) Burton, and brothers John (Susan) Novalis and David (Lissa) Novalis. She is preceded in death by her parents Grace and John Novalis. Marylou earned her degree in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.

She began her long and varied career in the Emergency Room of Bellevue Hospital in New York City. She ultimately discovered her passion in pediatric care. Her love for helping people went beyond nursing, and after retirement she continued to assist those in need.

She found great fulfillment in her role as an ambassador to the new residents of Brookdale whether it was showing people around or being a friendly face in a new environment. Marylou had many passions in life. She loved to travel and experience new things; she had a knack for boating and skiing.

She had a great appreciation for the Opera, as well as classical cinema. Her love of animals was fierce, whether it was riding her horses, Richmond and Soupy, or caring for her dogs, Brie and Colby, they never failed to fill her with joy. Marylou had many friends and a special place in everyone’s hearts.

A funeral is scheduled for May 5th, at Nie Family Funeral Home on Carpenter Road in Ann Arbor with the Memorial Gathering beginning at 10am and the Service starting at 11am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Marylou. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Dawn Farm.
