Ms. Freeda Mae Stamey Fowler, 89, a lifelong resident of Gordon County, died Thursday, February 14th, 2019 at Advent Gordon Hospital following a brief illness. Ms. Fowler was born in Gordon County, GA on March 17, 1929, daughter of the late Bryan and Grace Pass Stamey. She was a member of the 1946 graduating class of Oostanaula School.

She retired from Cherokee Nursing Home as a nursing Assistant. In addition to being a caregiver, she adored her family and she was a wonderful cook having won First place in the “Chik Fila” fried chicken contest. Her flowers brought her much enjoyment as well as gardening and she was a member of Reeves Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Doyle E. Fowler, one sister, Hazel Stamey and by two brothers, Milton Ray Stamey and William Stamey. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Fowler Johns and a son, Tom A. Fowler and his wife Tamra. Grandchildren: Michael Medellin, Austin Fowler, Angie Smith Tormey and her husband Tommy and Cody Johns.

Great grandchildren: Ava, Annabelle and Ansley Fowler, Milani and Alleah Medellin, Mia Langerud and Logyn Fowler. Sisters, Louise Patterson, Maxine Hudson, Marie Thomas and her husband Jimmy, Linda King and her husband Sammy. Brothers, Robert (Bob) Stamey and his wife Charlsey, John Stamey and his wife Faye and Larry Stamey and his wife Sue.

Sister-in-law, Lela Mae Stamey. Funeral services for Mrs. Freeda Mae Stamey Fowler will be conducted Sunday, February 17th from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Burns officiating.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery on Hall Memorial Road with Rev. Tim Reid in charge of the graveside service. Pallbearers serving include; Michael Medellin, Austin Fowler, Dylan Hyde, Ralph Huie, Tommy Tormey and Cody Johns.

The family of Mrs. Fowler will receive friends Saturday, February 16th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 PM at the funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www. maxbrannonandsons.com.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
