James “Bud” Flom June 19, 1929 – December 17, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card James “Bud” Flom, 89, of Milton, ND, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Center in Lakota, ND. G. James “Bud” Flom was born June 19, 1929, at the home farm in Osford Township, rural Milton, ND, to Gilbert and Klara (Lundeby) Flom. He attended Osnabrock High School, graduating in 1946.

He then attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School, Fargo, ND, where he took a course in auto mechanics. In 1948, he returned to Hanson Auto and took a course in acetylene and electrical welding. On September 7, 1952, James married the love of his life, Edwina Thrugstad, of Fairdale, ND, at the Aadalen Free Lutheran Church of rural Fairdale.

They made their home on the family farm where they raised four boys. Edwina passed away November 27, 2018. James farmed for many years.

After retiring from farming, he went to work for the Good Samaritan Center in Osnabrock for 15 years as a maintenance supervisor. He was an active community member having held offices in the following organizations: Milton Parent Teacher Organization, Milton-Osnabrock Lutheran parish, Milton Lutheran parish, St. Stephen Lutheran Church, and three years as a member of the advisory board of the Osnabrock Good Samaritan Center. He was president of St. Stephen Lutheran congregation and cemetery association, vice president of Milton United parish, and a supervisor on the Osford Township Board of Supervisors.

James loved to keep himself busy on the farm. He was always tinkering with something. He had a great love for his cats and treated them like they were his children.

Surviving James are his sons: Jameson (Shirley) of Michigan, ND, Jon of Winfield, KS, and Eric of Hoople, ND; nine grandchildren: Jason, Nathan (Allyssa), Amy (Marcus), Kevin, Samantha (Russ), Krystle, Klara, Russell, and Matthew; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Edwina, son Guy, sister Nadine (Henry) Charbonneau, and niece Nela (Dean) Yantes. A memorial service for James will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock, ND, with visitation starting one hour prior to service time at the church.

Inurnment will be in the spring of 2019 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Milton, ND.
