OBITUARY G. Kathleen “Kay” Cowan Bailey January 6, 1922 – January 18, 2019 Kay was born in Union City, NJ January 6, 1922 and went to heaven on January 18, 2019 at the age of 97. Her parents, Roland and Anne Cowan re-located to Trenton, NJ in 1925, where Kay graduated from Cathedral High School, then graduated college from Seton Hill in Greensburg, PA in 1944. She joined the Navy Waves in 1944, and served until 1946.

She moved to Kansas City in 1946 after her marriage to Virgil “Cotton” Bailey. She was a schoolteacher and taught at Our Lady of Good Counsel and Our Lady of Lourdes from 1959 to 1964. She raised 4 children: Richard (Rick), Robert (Bob), Kenneth (Kenny), Patricia (Patty).

Bob and Patty pre-decease her. Rick (wife, Laura) Granddaughter Erica, Grandson Ryan; Ken (wife, Mona) Granddaughter Sara, Grandson Matt survive as well as 10 great grandchildren. She resided at Little Sisters of the Poor for the last 20 years, where she was a popular and friendly lady.

She was a very kind and generous mother and grandmother and will be missed. Services will be Saturday, January 26th at Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138. Visitation at 10:00 A.M., Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, where Kay received excellent care.
