OBITUARY Garland Oris Weber May 6, 1929 – January 19, 2019 Garland Oris Weber was born in Competition, Missouri on May 6, 1929 to Evert and Alma Weber. He was raised on a family farm with his seven siblings near Lynchberg, Missouri. At the age of 19, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Cunningham during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952.

After his service, he lived and worked in Yakima, Washington where he met his future wife, Mercedes Materi. He married on February 11, 1956. Shortly after, he moved to Seattle with his wife and son to work for Carnation where he spent the next 34 years as truck driver.

Mercedes bore him two more sons in a city where he lived for the rest of his life. Besides being a devoted husband and father, his aspiration in life was to bring humor and laughter to those around him. His self-sacrifice was evident when on his new job he realized he couldn’t stop his milk truck in time from striking a small boy riding his bike against the light, instead he swerved his truck into a telephone pole that resulted in head injuries and life long scar saving the boy’s life.

He was a hard worker and on numerous occasions worked a second job to provide for his family. He enjoyed camping, salmon fishing, carpentry, auto body work, reading and traveling. Garland passed away quietly on January 19, 2019, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mercedes; three sons, Allan (Debra), Gerald (Kimberly) and Steven (Angela) five grandchildren, Jeremy, Jeffery, Christopher, Catherine and Cameron; and three siblings, Laverne, Wayne and Wanda. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington on February 2nd. His remains will be encrypted at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington.

Flowers can be sent to Acacia Funeral Home, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, 98155. Or donations can be made in Garland’s name to St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 814 NE 85th St, Seattle, 98115.
