Obituary for Garland Sherman Williamson FORT WORTH – Garland Sherman (Buddy) Williamson, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 26, 2018. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior with peace in his heart and a smile on his face. Celebration of life: Services will be held in Fort Worth and Kingsport, Tenn.

The service in Fort Worth will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Southcliff Baptist Church. In Kingsport, Tenn. , the service will be held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 23, 2018.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Fort Worth. Garland was known as Buddy to his family and friends. He was born in Homer, La.

, on March 11, 1944. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Buddy spent his entire career with Eastman Chemical Company retiring in 2001 as Executive Senior Vice President. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He is remembered as genuine, kind and comforting to those around him, a true gentle man. He always encouraged you to do your best. He could talk to anyone from the building janitor to the President of the United States.

They were both treated with the same level of respect. If you knew Buddy you knew these things: He loved reading a good book sitting by the water. He spent his early mornings sharing Cheerios with his furry sidekick, Maggie.

Fishing was a passion. Cowboy boots and Levis always trumped a business suit. Flannel Shirts from Walmart were his everyday favorite.

During his life he lived in Homer, La. ; Longview, Texas; Kingsport, Tenn. ; Newton, MA; Singapore, The Hague, NL, and Fort Worth, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman S. and Bessie D. Williamson; and his sisters, Billie Jean Prestidge and Jacqueline Brown. Survivors: Devoted wife of 54 years, Jane Williamson; three daughters, Kelly Williamson, Kayla Stidham and Kristy (Mike) Williamson-Jackson; grandchildren, Garrett (Koty) Stidham, Alexis (Larry) Stitle and Bronwyn Jackson; great-grandchild, Lincoln Stitle; nieces, Sharlotte (Richard) Armstrong, Priscilla (Brad) Gadel and Carlene Branch; and nephew, Gene Tucker.
