Gary A. Shewell, 71, of Moline, died Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Select Medical in Davenport, IA. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2018 at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave Moline. Visitation will be an hour prior at the funeral home.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

All need to use 70th Street for access to the funeral home due to the road construction. Gary was born on March 5, 1947 in Moline, the son of Dale Shewell and Dorothy Ader Shewell. Gary worked at the post office in the processing plant in Milan, IL and was also a mail carrier for 20 years in Rock Island.

He enjoyed video games, he was a former member of the Vikings Club, but what will be remembered most is how much he loved his grandchildren. Survivors include daughters, Danielle and her fiancé, Justin Huber, Moline, and Ashley Shewell, Orion; grandchildren, Jackston, Joseph, and Yiyatte; and the mothers of his children, Anna Shewell, Moline and Diana Shewell, Orion. He was preceded in death by his parents.
