Donald Gene Graves, 75, of Lake Secession, husband of Laura Hughes Graves, died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his home. He was born in Streator, Illinois to the late Gladys Cooper Reum. Mr. Graves graduated from Illinois University where he was a member of the Fighting Illini football team.

Renewing his airline license at the age of 70, he retired as a captain from United Airlines with over 20 years of service. Mr. Graves enjoyed fishing, hunting, tennis, sailing and animals, especially his dogs; however, his passion was flying. He is survived by his wife, Laura, of 35 years and his children, Gina Boykin of Pompano Beach, FL, Dirk Graves and his wife, Sandy, of Chicago, IL, Jodi Ragno and her husband, Joe, of Orlando, FL and Tricia MacRae and her husband, Alistar; and six grandchildren.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Graves, may be sent to the Anderson County Humane Society, 407 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625 or the charity of one’s choice. A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.
