Obituary of Gene Burt Mr. Gene M. Burt, 86, of Russell Corners Rd. , Pleasantville passed away on Thursday evening, October 4, 2018, at his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Oil City. Mr. Burt was born on April 20, 1932, in Plumer to the late Russell and Dora Sharp Burt.

He married Cora E. Morgan on July 16, 1955, in the Paintertown Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1951. Mr. Burt was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War.

He was formerly employed by Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel. In 1964, Gene started Burt’s Used Cars which he operated in Titusville until 1980. He then moved his business to Pleasantville and also opened the Tyred Wheels Museum, which attracted people from all over the world.

The museum was open to the public from 1992 to 2013. Gene was a member of the Plumer United Methodist Church, the Pennsylvania Oil Region Antique Automobile Club of America, Titusville Aero Club, and very active in the Plumer Community Association. He enjoyed restoring, collecting and driving antique cars, building and flying planes, and building model planes and cars.

Gene is survived by his wife Cora of Pleasantville; a son, Darrin Burt and wife Travisty of Oil City; a sister, Janet Orosz and husband Joseph of Geneva, OH; 2 brothers, Kenneth Burt and wife Harriet of Titusville, Richard Burt of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Burt. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Plumer United Methodist Church 51 Petroleum Center Rd. , Oil City, PA 16301 on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ali Berkey.

Interment will be in Plumer Cemetery.
