George, son of the late George Cloyd Newsome, Sr. and Emily Harris Newsome, was born October 28, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. Viewing will be Friday, March 8, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Cofield Mortuary.

A Celebration Honoring the Life and Spirit of Mr. George Cloyd Newsome, Jr. will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:30 P.M. from The Sanctuary of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, NC with the Pastor, Rev. Timothy Edwards giving words of comfort. Mr. Newsome will lie in state and may be viewed one hour (1:30 P.M. – 2:30 P.M.) prior to the service at the church and will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
