George Faust, age 80, of Hubbard. IA, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Iowa River Hospice House on Marshalltown, IA. George Edward Faust was born on October 30th, 1937 to Harold Faust and Sadie (Sandvig) Faust in Hubbard, Iowa in the house in which he was born, raised his family, and lived until his final days.

He was baptized and confirmed in the EUB Salem Church in Hubbard. He lived in Hubbard all of his life, graduating from Hubbard High School in 1955. He attended… Read More » Iowa State University for one year and then entered the military.

He served in the Army in Japan and Korea from 1956 to 1958. His military service was one of George’s greatest s of pride. George married the love of his life, Carma Rae Uschkrat, on October 18th, 1958.

They lived in McCallsburg and then moved to Hubbard in 1959. George and Carma raised two daughters, Shara Faust Mery (Mario) and Shelly Faust Larson (Matt). George started farming at the age of five, farmed with his father, took over the family farm, and in his most recent years, farmed with his grandson, Alex.

George’s hobbies included flying, camping, motorcycling, boating, and spending time with family and friends. He dearly loved his four grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Cara, and Aubree. George passed away from lung disease at the age of 80 on September 16th, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.

George is survived by his wife, Carma, daughters Shara and Shelly, sons-in-law, Mario and Matt, grandsons, Andrew and Alex Mery, (all of Des Moines), granddaughters, Cara Larson (Chicago) and Aubree Larson (Iowa City) and brother, Jon Faust and sister-in-law, Shirlee Faust (Hubbard), and many other relatives and friends. George was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.
