George Harvey (Bud) Brown, 84 of Divernon, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Concordia Transitional Care-Maryville, TN. Bud was born April 17, 1933 in Divernon to Charles Harvey & Mary (Welsh) Brown. He married Dorothy “Dottie” Hobbie December 10, 1955.

Bud was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, the Divernon American Legion, the Divernon Sportsman’s Club, the Men’s Golf League at Edgewood in Auburn and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He retired from Fiat Allis after 33 years of faithful service as General Foreman of the Maintenance Department. He also served as the Divernon Township Road Commissioner for many years as well as being a lifelong farmer.

He was a beloved school bus driver in his later years and had many fond memories of the children on his route. Bud enjoyed puttering around his hometown of Divernon and logged countless miles cruising the countryside and checking the crops. He had many pets over the years and had an affinity for animals and people.

He was a proud father and grandfather and truly loved his family, friends, and community. He was a friend to all who crossed his path and was quick with a big smile and a handshake. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen of Maryville, TN.

Also surviving are Bud & Dottie’s four sons, Chuck (Laurie) Brown of Los Fresnos, TX, Bob (Carolyn) Brown, George (Dana) Brown, Mike (Desiree) Brown, all of Divernon: grandchildren, Alan, Anna (Alex), George, Shelby, Dalton, Lyndsey (Rob), Zachary, Morgan, Rachel and Erin; step grandchildren, Ricky, Morgan, Jake and Seth, great grandchildren: Lexi, Daphne & Wesley; step great grandchildren: Briar & Logan; three sisters, Martha (Bob) Matte of Tucson, AZ, Jean Applegate of West Plains, MO, Jane (Coy) Angelo of Guilford, CT and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dottie and brother Alan Brown. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Bud at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Divernon Sportsmen’s Club in Divernon, Illinois.
