East Liverpool, OH. George R. Gamerdinger, a man of God, accepted his Heavenly reward on Monday, February 18, 2019. He passed at the East Liverpool City Hospital after a brief illness, with his loving family at his side.

92 years old, George was born in Newark, OH. on June 30, 1926, a son of the late John T. Gamerdinger and Gladys F. Andrews McLean. George raised his daughters with the same principles, ethics, and morals that he adhered to.

A true member of the Greatest Generation, he proudly served his country with the US Army during WW II in the European Theater. George was a Sergeant with Company K, 317 Regiment, 8oth Division. He continued his service to his country and his fellow veterans as a member and chaplain of the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group, and American Legion Post 121 and VFW Post 6450 in Chester.

George attended and supported the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester for several years. Described as a maker and fixer, he was very active around the church, he will be remembered for placing the luminaries around the church every Christmas Eve. After 20 years, George retired from the Quaker State Oil Refinery as a Utility Supervisor.

Never one to be idle, he then became the Maintenance Supervisor for the Westminster Apartments in Chester. Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Earl W. Gamerdinger, his sister, Lucille Gamerdinger, and his granddaughter, Kit Stine. George comes from a family influenced by love and adoration for each other.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Janice O’Flaherty Gamerdinger; his daughters, Jo Lynn Stine of Del Ray Beach, FL. , Joyce (Charles) Greene of Corpus Christi, TX. , Jan (Jeff) Maxey of Boise, ID.

, Lori (Michael) Folio of Hurricane, WV. , and Sherri (Curt) Baxter of Chicago, IL. Ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren survive as well.

His pastor, Rev. Katrina Lewis will celebrate George’s life at the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Indiana Ave. in Chester on Friday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. where full military honors will be accorded by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and Honor Guard of WV.

National Guard. Friends are invited to visit with his family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Thursday when they will be present from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.
