Georgia “Ginger” Whitehair Atkinson, 78, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Tuesday July 3, 2018 at her residence. She was born on July 15, 1939 in Ritchie County a daughter of the late George D. and Nina (Jewel) Whitehair. She was a CNA and worked at Greenlawn Nursing Home, Pineview Nursing Home, and HomeCare Aide.

She also owned and operated B&O Bar and Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, raising her family, watching her birds, hunting deer, and traveling. She is survived by her daughter Georgette Corbin (Austin) of Parkersburg; son Steven Whitehair of Westfield, WI; foster daughter Ginger Whitehair of Charleston, WV; a nephew, who was like a son Kevin Whitehair (Brenda) of Parkersburg; brother Gale Whitehair of Parkersburg; grandsons Dakota Atkinson, Steven Whitehair II, Conner Whitehair, Hunter Carpenter, Christopher Carpenter, Larry Whitehair (Billie); granddaughters Abbie Corbin, Nevaeh Corbin, Stevie Jenkins (Donnie); great grandson Liam Jenkins; all of her sister and brother-in-laws; and all of her nieces and nephews.

. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry P. Atkinson; brothers Luther Sonnie Whitehair, Donald Ralph Whitehair, and Dale Whitehair; and sisters Frances Dodd and Jessie Nash. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and Home Health and especially Brandi and Amanda for their love and care.

Funeral services will be Saturday 1:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Dave Simons officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
