Georgina “Gina” Cancel April 23, 1927 – February 13, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Georgina “Gina” Cancel, a resident of Haverstraw, passed away February 13, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Georgina was born on April 23, 1927 in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. Gina graduated from Cosmetology School in Puerto Rico in April of 1961.

She earned her New York State GED diploma in 1973. She worked for the Modern Dust Bag Company in West Haverstraw for many years. Georgina helped her husband at the family Bodega and worked for several years at Letchworth Village as a Therapy Aide.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Isidro “Chilo” and her brother Wilfredo Rodriguez. Gina is survived by her son, Isidro “Papo” and wife Patricia Cancel, daughter Elsa and husband John Orange, grandchildren Kim, Amy, Jaylene, Samantha, Megan and seven great granddaughters. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Fit, of Haverstraw and Celia Rodriguez from Levittown, Puerto Rico and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Daisy Santana and Arisleida Blanca Almonte whom cared for Georgina in her own home with such love and devotion. The family will receive friends at the George M. Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main Street, Haverstraw, NY 10927 on Saturday evening from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Georgina’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM on Monday, February 18, 2019 at St Peter’s and St. Mary’s Church.

Georgina will be laid to rest with her husband at St Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
