Gerald J. Fey, 92, of Columbia passed away Sunday evening at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Pottsville, August 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Raymond and LuLa (Lunckenbill) Fey. He was a Pottsville High School graduate, class of 1943.

Gerald proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was first stationed in the Philippines and was in the first wave of American troops to enter Japan. Gerald retired from ITT Grinnell Corporation as an engineer.

Prior to working for ITT Grinnell Corporation he worked for Penn Reels. He had a proud achievement with two of his reel designs that were used in the movie JAWS. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Peffer and a brother, Raymond Fey. He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne M. (Hake) Fey; son, Dr. Charles Fey; stepson Larry husband of Sirën Hake. He also leaved behind his loving cat of 20 plus years, Pepper.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, October 12 at noon at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville, Rev. Anthony Swamy will be officiating. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
