OBITUARY Gerald Lee Smith December 6, 1964 – October 23, 2018 Gerald Lee Smith, 53, of New Bern, went home to be with his Lord on October 23rd, 2018. Affectionately known as “Jerry” by his family and friends, he was a loving and devoted son, brother and friend. He will always be remembered for his love and talent for building engines, drag racing and helping others.

In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and watching the History Channel and “Street Outlaws”. He is lovingly survived by his Mother, Barbara Lawhorn Whitley and her husband, Larry; his Father, Danny Smith; his fiancée, Carol Gaskins; his sisters, Tammy Nopper and her husband, Scott, and Tonya Bell; as well as a special niece and nephew, Madison Nicole Smith and Tyler Bell. He is also survived by several Aunts and Uncles, Hilton and Nancy “Sister” Hartley, Barbara “Aunt Bob” Lawhorn, Wayne Lawhorn, and Jean and Roland Davis; and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held to honor Jerry’s life and a date will be announced in the coming days. Please check this website for updates. Jerry’s family would be grateful for any help that friends may be willing to offer in assistance with the funeral expenses.
