Long, 84, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. He was born on May 2, 1935 in Connersville to the late Arold Long and Hazel Neal Moore. He married his first wife M. Jean Weisheit, they were married for 34 years, she passed away on August 18, 2011.

Gerald retired after 30 years from Triangle Sheet Metal in 2000. He was a member of the Amvets and the 40 & 8. In his leisure time he enjoyed, hunting mushroom and deer and fishing.

He also raced at the Union County Speedway. Gerald volunteered at the 40 & 8 when they would fry chicken for events. He was often found swinging on his porch swing, enjoying the outdoors.

Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by a son, Gary (Rebecca) Long; a daughter, Linda (Cletus) Pate; a brother, David Long; eight grandchildren, Courtney, Jill, Cassie Cody, Dawn, Bryan, Brad and Jayson; six great grandchildren, Rayna, Elias, Holton, Bradley, Braelynn and Scarlette; and seven great-great grandchildren. Along with his parents , first wife and wife Judith K. Bradburn Long of 28 years who passed away on March 21, 2016, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl Long; two step sons, Jay Bright and Mark Bright; and an infant sister.

The funeral service for Gerald will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W. 8th Street, Connersville, Indiana 47331 with Reverend James Orr officiating. Burial will follow at Lick Creek Cemetery. Family and friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.
