Mrs. Geraldine E. “Cookie” Bishop, 70, of Pittsfield, passed away on January 16, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Pittsfield on November 6, 1948 the daughter of Rueben and Sophia Lingoski Vallencourt, she attended Pittsfield schools. Mrs. Bishop worked for General Electric in Pittsfield and later for General Dynamics.

She was also involved in the L-254 Union where she rose to the position of Chief Shop Steward. In this position Cookie negotiated both local and national labor agreements and served with distinction. She is survived by her husband, Gary A. Bishop, whom she was married to for 52 years and who, in her words, is the most honorable man she has ever known.

She also leaves her daughter, Gina L. Fasser; a sister, Sandra Vallencourt and two grandchildren, Ayden Fasser and Jonas Fasser. Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Vallencourt and Peter Vallencourt. A talented dancer in her youth, Cookie was a joyful spirit who enjoyed crafting and spending time with friends and family.

Her grandchildren and daughter were the apples of her eye and she truly enjoyed supporting all of their interests. She was well known for being one of the rowdiest cheerleaders during her daughter’s many years of softball games. Cookie will be remembered by that unforgettable contagious laugh, her strength, and those delicious mashed potatoes that no one could replicate.

Cookie will be missed by many and will never be ever forgotten. The family would like to give great thanks from the bottom of their hearts for the awe-inspiring care of Home Instead Senior Care and Hospice of Berkshire County that allowed her to live her last months in her home where she wanted to be. Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine E. “Cookie” Bishop will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday evening, January 21, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Berkshire County in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in her memory.
