Gerard Michael Malara October 19, 1960 – January 11, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 2170 HIGHWAY 88, BRICK, NJ Gerard Michael Malara, age 58, of Point Pleasant Borough, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Haven Hospice of JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Orange, NJ, he was raised in Verona and moved to Point Pleasant Borough in 1970. Gerard received his bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University.

He worked as a bridge operator for the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Gerard was a parishioner of St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant where he was a member of their Knights of Columbus Council. Gerard was preceded in death by his parents Gerard and Marie (Colonna) Malara.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Malara of Whiting; two brothers Gregory I. Malara and his wife Eileen of South Plainfield and Peter J. Malara and his wife Gabriella of New York City; and one niece Mary Malara. The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10AM at St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick, followed by interment at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Wall Township.
