GERARD RAYMOND ROPPOLO January 22, 1955 – January 03, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Gerard (Jerry) Raymond Roppolo, 63, passed away recently at his home in New Orleans. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Roppolo, Sr. and Virginia Cali Roppolo; and his eldest brother, Peter Roppolo, Jr. Gerard is survived by his daughter, Kristen Antoinette Roppolo of California, a brother, Joseph P. Roppolo, Sr. a sister, Virginia Roppolo DeLatte, and his sister-in-law, Joan C. Roppolo. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his long-time friend, Ken Dupre, a chaplain who he shared countless religious discussions with over the years. Gerard attended St. Henry and Mater Dolorosa elementary schools in New Orleans and East Jefferson High School in Metairie. He studied Psychology at Loyola University in New Orleans, and worked for 20 years as an individual, group, and family therapist.

In addition, he spent several years as a mental health counselor at various hospitals in the greater New Orleans area. He recently retired to live in the Marigny area with his companion Pam Smith. The family offers heartfelt thanks to Father Anthony Rigoli, Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for assisting with final burial arrangements.

A memorial mass will be held at Guadalupe Church in New Orleans at 411 N. Rampart St. on Friday, February 22nd at 10:00 am. The rosary will precede mass.
