Goshen- Gertrude L. Schrader, 94, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Charlotte Hugerford Hospital, Torrington. Miss. Schrader was born in Torrington on July 12, 1924, daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Boyno) Schrader, and had been a lifelong area resident.

She was a retired Supervisor with the Torrington Company. Miss. Schrader was a communicant of St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Goshen.

She enjoyed traveling, solving the New York Times crossword puzzles & word search, along the Red Sox & Girls U-Conn Basketball. And not to forget a little trip to Foxwoods now and then. Survivors include a sister, Julia Lewandowski of Goshen, nephews, Kenneth and Dennis Schrader, James and Martin Schroeder, and grandnieces and grandnephews and one great-great nephew.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Schrader and Paul Schroder A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Goshen. Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Cemetery, Goshen, will be held in the Spring. Interesting story on the spelling of the Schrader/Schroder names, it seems the mix-up occurred when the recording of a birth, and all 3 were at home births, you went to the court house to do so at that time.

The clerk was hard of hearing, so the story goes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 193 Goshen, CT 06756. Other charities were also in her heart, EWTN and St. Thomas of Villanova Church.
