Obituary of Gilbert Gustafson Gilbert “Gil” L. Gustafson, 90, of Kingsport, TN, died Tuesday July 17, 2018, at Brookdale Rock Springs in Kingsport, TN. A Jamestown area native, he was born January 9, 1928, a son of the late Arvid and Sarah Carlberg Gustafson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Virginia “Ginger” Schuyler Gustafson; his brother Robert Gustafson and sister Ruth Davis.

He was a graduate of Falconer High School. Gil spent his early years testing milk in the western New York area and also as a professional truck driver for Mushroom Transportation and Flickingers. While living in Jamestown, Gil and his wife owned Kaffestugan Restaurant.

In 1970 Gil and Ginger moved to Orlando, Fl where they owned and operated Levan’s Catering Service of Winter Park, FL. After retirement they relocated to Kingsport, TN to be closer to their children. Gil took great joy in his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving are his children Bruce & Dottie Gustafson, Stan & Brenda Rarick, and Carole & Todd Pelfrey; his grandchildren Laurie & Joshua Brewer, Melissa & Roger Baughan, Sarah Gustafson, Mark & Brooke Gustafson, Amanda & Patrick Scoville, Rachel & Jireh Miaw, Jared & Erica Pelfrey and Joshua Pelfrey; and his great grandchildren Samuel Brewer, Jacob Brewer, Alexia Miaw, Mckinley Baughan, Zoey Gustafson, Daniel Miaw and Elizabeth Baughan and a sister Doris Overend of Gerry, NY. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Rock Springs, as well as Amedisys Hospice, for their support and care. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Allen Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:30-2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
