Gilberto Martins, 72, of Hazard Ave. , East Providence, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Dec. 24, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center.

He was the beloved husband of Maria Gloria Martins. Born Jan. 8, 1946, in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose Martins and the late Maria Hortencia (Almeida) Martins.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Nelia Martins and Kevin Medeiros of East Providence, his son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Martins also of East Providence; and 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Haley, Brooke, Ethan and Troy. He was the twin brother to Jose Manteiga of East Providence, and also the brother of John Martins of East Providence, Edward Martins of Providence, Robert Martins of Providence and the late Oliveiro Martins. His funeral will begin Friday, Dec.

28, at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
