Fortunato, age 83 passed away suddenly on Thursday January 3, 2019 at Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Gilda was born September 26, 1935 in Beaver Falls, PA. a daughter of Domenico & Concetta Crognale.

Gilda’s greatest love in her life was for her family and God. Being a Pastor’s wife, she was very involved in numerous activities including; the ladies ministry, choir, Sunday School, youth and children’s ministries. She loved God and loved to share her faith in God wherever she went.

Her husband Pastor Louis Fortunato Jr. whom she married September 6, 1958 passed away February 26, 2006. She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Landon (Donna) Fortunato, her daughter Beth, and her grandchildren Christina, Andrew, Jeremy, Ashley, Zachary and Dominique. She also leaves behind her siblings, Camillo Crognale, Lydia Del Turco, Alfred (Adele) Crognale, Mary Jane Mezzapelli, Henry (June) Crognale, Donna Hopkins, Ronald (Elizabeth) Crognale, Raymond (Gretchen) Crognale, John (Meme) Crognale and sisters-in-law Judith Fortunato, Rebecca Shaffer and several nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Gilda was preceded in death by her father and mother Domenico and Concetta Crognale, father and mother-in-law Louis and Maria Fortunato, sister Ruth Crognale-Pisano, granddaughter Danielle Fortunato, brothers-in-law John Del Turco, Danny Mezzapelli, Joseph Fortunato, Samuel Fortunato, Luke Fortunato, John Fortunato, sisters-in-law Margaret Crognale, Donna Crognale, Betty Fortunato, Ann Fortunato, nephews and nieces Michael Crognale, Amy Dowdy, Melissa Miller and Fred Crognale Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday January 11, 2019 from 9:30-11:30 AM at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Adult and Teen Challenge at 725 Wessor Avenue Willard, Ohio 44890.
