Braun passed away peacefully December 26, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend to many. Gladys was born September 8, 1933 in Fargo ND to Louis and Ella Johnson.

She moved with her family to a farm near Callaway, MN where she grew up and attended school. On May 28,1953 Gladys and Arthur Braun were married in Detroit Lakes where they lived and raised their family. Art died December 16, 1996.

Gladys was employed at Emmanuel Nursing Home for 30 years until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. In her pastime she crocheted many beautiful doilies and tablecloths.

She also loved working in her flower gardens and playing cards. We will remember her wonderful cooking and great holiday meals and how she cared for everyone. Gladys is survived by her family, Craig (Deanna) Braun, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Helen Braun, of Detroit Lakes, MN; Gayle (Paul) Dyrdahl of Buffalo, MN; Carol Braun, of Eagan, MN; one sister Ardyce Schouviller of Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Brandon Braun of Detroit Lakes, MN; Natalie Braun of Detroit Lakes, MN; Chad Dyrdahl of Buffalo, MN; and Amy (Dietrich) Nissen, of Edina, MN; and one great granddaughter, Winter Nissen, of Edina, MN.

Preceding Gladys in death was her husband, Arthur; grandson Andrew Braun; Brothers, Erwin, Leland, Merl, Ray “Kenny” and twin brother Gordon; and Sisters Esther Mitchell and Fern Thompson. Funeral Services will be on Monday December 31, 2018; 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN, with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.
