Gladys J. (Geibel) Steighner, 89, of Butler, died Monday morning, March 11, 2019, at the Chicora Medical Center. Born October 19, 1929 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Paul Geibel and Alberta (Neigh) Geibel. Gladys was a homemaker and was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.

She enjoyed camping, traveling, baking, reading and watching her grandchildren’s ball games. Surviving are her children: Carol A. Collins of Chicora; Christine M. (Thomas) Christy of Butler; Gilbert H. (Margaret) Steighner of Rimersburg; Gary L. (Sandy) Steighner of Rimersburg; Donald J. Steighner of Carbon Center and Daniel P. (Debra) Steighner of Butler. 22 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

2 sisters: Lois (Ralph) Shuler Morrison and Leo (MaryLee) Rosenbauer, both of Butler. 2 sisters-in-law: Helen Geibel and Thelda Geibel. Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert R. Steighner, he died in May of 2006, 1 sister, 3 brothers and her son-in-law, Fred Collins. Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.

Interment will follow in St. John’s Parish Cemetery.
