Glenn’s Obituary Glenn P. Kimball, 90, died peacefully on March 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Kimball was the son of the late Robert B. and Dorothy (Houston) Kimball and was born and raised in Haverhill, MA. He was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1947, where he lettered in football and track, and went on to graduate from Worcester Academy in 1948.
Mr. Kimball served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as a photographer’s mate and technician. Mr. Kimball was a co-owner and former president of the R.B. Kimball Insurance Co, located in downtown Haverhill. He served as a trustee of the Union Cemetery in Newton, NH.
As a resident of Plaistow for sixty-three years, Mr. Kimball was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Plaistow, where he served on several committees over the years. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Saggahew Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Haverhill, as well as the Haverhill Commandery, and the Aleppo Shrine. Mr. Kimball was involved in the construction of his homes and was most proud of the fact that he himself built his ski house in Danbury, NH.
He enjoyed skiing, fishing, woodworking, and clock building and repair. He was an avid golfer for the duration of his life, being able to shoot his age for many of them and winning several local tournaments, including the Haverhill Country Club Senior Club Championship. Most recently, he was a member of the Lions Club League at Granite Fields Golf Club.
Mr. Kimball will be missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of sixty-six years, Violet L. (Pitts) Kimball; daughter Karen S. Goodwin and her husband David W. Jr. of Plaistow; two sons, Dr. Glenn “Phil” Kimball, Jr. and his wife Dr. Joan H. Kimball of Haverhill, MA, and Brett A. Kimball and his wife Lisa B. of Charlotte, NC; sister Janice Thomson of Center Lovell, ME; eleven grandchildren: David W. Goodwin III, Benjamin K. Goodwin, Margaret V. (Goodwin) Conroy, Lauren (Kimball) Auger, Glenn H. Kimball, Dr. Kara A. Kimball, Alison R. Kimball, Jameson B. Kimball, Jordan E. (Kimball) Hirst, Gina Higgins and Kelley Higgins; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert B. Kimball, Jr. and Malcolm D. Kimball, Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Kimball’s Funeral Service on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Plaistow (Main St.). The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service at a reception in Colcord Hall of the church.
