Obituary for Glenn Smith FORT WORTH – Glenn Eugene Smith, 89, passed away from encephalopathy on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Presbyterian Night Shelter, 2400 Cypress Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102 may be made in his memory. Glenn was born in Big Spring, Texas on Christmas Day, 1928.

He earned a BA and MA in Education from the University of North Texas. He enlisted in the US Army and served with the occupation forces in Japan 1946-1947. His career covered a wide range of jobs and businesses including Junior College golf coach, owner/publisher of the Wise County Messenger, high school principal, restauranteur, custom home builder and oil and gas to name a few.

He was a lifelong golfer and lover of Bob Wills’ Western Swing music. Glenn loved his family deeply. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Norton.

Survivors: Loving wife of 68 years, Constance Van Meter Smith; daughters: Sharon Norton and husband, Rick; Shirley Gage; and Lynn Reuther and husband, Norman; son, Glenn Smith, Jr., and wife, Lea; granddaughters, Brandia Howard and husband, Randy, Alexandria Becker and husband, Garrett and Anne Marie Smith; great-grandson, Jake Howard and soon to be born, great-grandson, Brooks Becker; step granddaughter, Melissa Almgren and husband, Eric; brother, James O.
