Glorianne Payne Eads, 92, of Burlington, Iowa died on February 5, 2019. The daughter of Arthur W. and Helen A. Thomas Payne, she was born March 15, 1926 in Burlington. She married Charles W. Eads on September 4, 1948 in Burlington.

He died July 5, 2006. She was a 1944 graduate of Burlington High School. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator and instructor during WW II.

After raising her children, she worked at Mercy Hospital which later became Burlington Medical Center. She retired in 2000 as payroll clerk. She was a 50 year member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

In 1999, she and Charlie became active members of Saints Mary and Patrick Church in West Burlington. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary Post #52, a charter member of R.S. Prussia Collectors Inc., and the Genealogical Society. She was a longtime member and secretary of Golden Oldies, Des Moines County Genealogy Society, Good Neighbors Club of the Two Rivers Bank and Trust and Friends of the Library.

She enjoyed Genealogy and did a lot of typing for the library records. Upon retirement, she and Charlie traveled considerably throughout the United States often visiting family and attending WWII reunions as well as various Collectible societies. Throughout her life, her favorite pastime was reading.

Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Mary (Terry) Lee of Elmhurst IL, Charles (Sandra) Eads of Milwaukee, WI, John (Melanie) Eads of Slidell, LA, and Barbara (James) Thye of Wever, IA, and her brother James A. Payne of Davenport along with her grandchildren Jennifer, Carrie, Julie, Amy, Allison, Charles, Bradley, David, Kelli, Daniel and 16 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Thomas.

Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 PM with the family to receive friends Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Eads will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS.

Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Rev. Father Daniel R Dorau as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall following the burial. In lieu of flowers memorials to Great River Home Health and Hospice would be appreciated.
